Description

Sunstone is one of those stones that are impossible to find locally. I was lucky enough to find some at a gem faire, even though it was kind of expensive. Sadly, I could only afford one. But I hope I could get some more sometime. It's gorgeous in person. I never really did like the color orange, but this is just one of those exceptions. This sunstone looks orange, but when you turn it in the light, gold "fire" dances across the surface of the stone. The fire is nearly impossible for me to fully describe, but in direct sunlight it's blinding. (But in a good way! :D)

I am also very happy with the wrap. I feel so accomplished with it. I was able to make the "drop" look. I wanted it to look fancy, but not too fancy to overwhelm the beautiful stone. The wire is goldfilled.

This piece measures a bit less than 2 inches with bail. The stone itself measures about 3/4" tall. It was a pain to try to photograph this. The pictures either turned out too bright or couldn't capture the flash. The stone is more "firey" in person.

The name comes from the stone's appearance and the wrap. The wrap is shaped like a drop formation, and the stone is as firey as the sun, hence the name.

Even though I really love this stone and piece, I'm not keeping it for myself. I just hope it finds a good home. :D

EDIT: To be honest, I forget exactly when it sold, but it was sometime in December 2011. It went home with someone my mom knows and works with. I'm glad she liked the fire of it, I can't find any more of these at gem faires anymore... I'm left with the crappy stuff I don't like. I really miss this piece, probably will forever, but at least it was given the home any wonderful piece deserves.

Thanks for looking! :D

Oooo, wow! Stunning piece. The stone is gorgeous and you framed it well. Good choice on the color of the wire.
